What’s in People’s Paste?

Powdered Slippery Elm Bark, Comfrey Root, Myrrh Resin, Bayberry and Garlic are the five, simple ingredients that make up People’s Paste. Each herb has its own outstanding properties, some of which overlap to multiply the effectiveness of this blend. One of the conveniences of using People’s Paste is that the wound does not have to be disinfected before use. Due to the antiseptic properties in the bayberry, myrrh and garlic, People’s Paste disinfects the wound and aids healing at the same time!

Slippery Elm Bark

Slippery Elm Bark is a fantastic demulcent which means it’s very soothing and moistening. It is also used to speed healing and prevent fluid loss from a wound. It contains antioxidant, antimicrobial and pain-relieving properties, is full of nutrients and minerals, and is useful for addressing skin conditions.

Comfrey Root

Comfrey is best known for how it speeds healing and aids in the regrowth of skin and tissue cells. It works deeply and efficiently, aiding in the healing of injuries, wounds, sprains, broken bones, damaged tissues, burns, varicose veins, scarring, and even ulcers. Comfrey’s main component is called allantoin which helps multiply cells, making them grow faster. One of comfrey’s nicknames is “knit bone” because of how it can help knit bones back together! Comfrey also contains pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties.

Myrrh

Myrrh was one of the gifts that the wise men brought to baby Jesus. They must have known the value and amazing properties of this herb to consider its value similar to that of gold! Myrrh has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, astringent and pain-relieving properties making it a wonderful ingredient in this herbal blend. It is particularly good at keeping away inflammation and infection.

Bayberry

Bayberry has astringent properties which help tone and tighten tissues in the body. When it comes to sealing a wound, bayberry’s astringency is a powerful aid. It also has mild antiseptic properties, making it a good disinfectant.

Garlic

Garlic brings another host of amazing properties and benefits. This common kitchen ingredient is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal. It also helps to calm spasms due to its antispasmodic action. Because of how it fights bacteria, garlic is one of the reasons why People’s Paste can be applied directly to a wound, often without prior cleansing.

How To Use People’s Paste

Despite its name, People’s Paste is actually a powder and not a paste. Depending on preference and circumstance, it can be used in its powdered form or made into a paste by combining a small amount of powder with water or oil.

Once applied to the wound, do not remove the People’s Paste as it acts as a scab and gently nourishes the wound. If removed, there is danger of reopening the skin. If more People’s Paste is needed, it can be added to the original application to reinforce its action.

A Testimonial

One of our clients shared her experience with using People’s Paste for her animal.

“I happened to order this as an add on to some other things I ordered unsure of what I would need it for. After it arrived, we had a farm cat that we suspected got bit by a snake. She had two puncture wounds, and the leg started to swell. I used this to make a paste with coconut oil. After cleaning the wound, I put this on it and bandaged her leg for a couple hours. She rested for a couple days and I’m happy to report that her leg swelling has completely gone, and she is good as new. I’m so glad to have this on hand for my family and animals!”

Lauren’s Story

A few years ago, Lauren wrote this story about how she used People’s Paste for a deep cut on her finger.

“I was washing the dishes and cut my right index finger. I’ve received my fair share of cuts, but I think I can safely say that this one was the worst. My hands were wet from the dish water, and I grabbed a paper towel and applied a lot of pressure to my finger. It was cut in a very odd place, on the outer side of my finger very near the lowest knuckle. Talk about pain! I continued to apply pressure, removing it to view how bad it was.

“I grabbed our little jar of People’s Paste, sat down on a chair and kept pressure on it for a few minutes. It wasn’t bleeding uncontrollably so it didn’t require immediate application of People’s Paste to stop the bleeding. After a few minutes, I applied the powder directly to my finger. I let it sit a bit, and then wrapped my index and middle fingers together. The cut was in a unique place so that when I separated my two fingers the cut opened.

“The next day I removed the bandages and applied more People’s Paste to the cut. The incredible properties of the herbs make it so that disinfecting is not needed. (Of course, if it is a very dirty wound, cleaning prior to the application may be necessary). Just three days later, I was typing with hardly noticeable pain. My finger still had a band-aid around it but was independent of my middle finger. Yesterday evening, I removed the People’s Paste completely from my finger and applied colloidal silver and a band-aid. It is healing beautifully, and the skin is growing back together evenly. I am quite amazed at the effectiveness of People’s Paste!”

People’s Paste for a Bleeding Lip

Here is another example of how we used People’s Paste. One of our boys cut his lip, making it bleed badly. Facial wounds tend to bleed a lot, and this case was no exception. Despite the cut being in an area not typically easy to treat, we still sprinkled People’s Paste onto the affected site. We were so impressed once again to see People’s Paste in action. Not only did it stop the bleeding, but it provided quick and speedy healing while gently nourishing the wound.

Never Be Without People’s Paste

Once we started using People’s Paste and experienced its amazing benefits, there was no turning back. We went from buying it from an herb company to making it ourselves. It’s amazing what a combination of a few simple herbs can do!
